Blog Post #4

This weeks project is the final project portfolio. Personally, I have not made as much progress on this assignment as I would have liked to at this point. However, after about 40 minutes of on and off contemplation I found the self-portrait that represents me best. I believe that it is my photo with my Eddie Jones’ Lakers jersey and sunglasses. These are two of my favorite articles of clothing that I like to wear. It was almost a tie between that and the one with my turntables however after analyzing the lighting, the composition, and the framing – I ultimately decided that that was the best photo. The easiest part of the project is definitely finding six photos that embody my “eye’s” development. With each week of practice, I have begun to hone my style and method of photography. Personally, I have made an emphasis to use more natural and better lighting. I attempt to factor that into all of my shots, noting the time of day, direction of the sun, position of lights, etc. This is something I definitely did not do as much at the beginning of the course, and is evident in my photos. Additionally, this is something I did not expect to enjoy, however, watching the progression of my eye’s development has been really cool.

This project is relatable to the class because we are going through every piece of information we have submitted, explaining our development / creation behind each piece. In addition, we have the chance to explain our work many weeks post-submission. This opportunity of reflection on our older work is very insightful and helps us develop as media producers and as artists.
