I think I have had decent progress in the photo-a-day assignment over the last two weeks. I could see a noticeable difference between my photos from the college theme and my photos from the family theme. The difference between the photos made it clear that I was getting a lot more comfortable with taking photos and capturing good quality pictures during the week of the family theme. One main difficulty I have had so far is figuring out a way to represent the theme in my photos in a clear way. With both themes I found it hard to come up with ideas for photos to take that would clearly connect to what that theme was. You would think that living in a college town and being on a college campus every day would make it easy to capture what college means to me in a photo, but it was not easy at all. I had a very hard time coming up with pictures to take that people would immediately understand how they connected to the theme without me explaining it. Leading into the family theme of the assignment I expected that issue to be even worse, seeing how our families are not here and there is not much around us that directly relates to our families personally to take photos of. Although it was hard at the beginning, I actually found myself getting more creative and thinking outside of the box, as I came up with ways to represent my family in other ways. The photo below is an example of how I was able to represent the theme of family in a completely different way, by capturing the idea of communicating with my family through mail. This may or may not be obvious at first look, but you can understand how it relates if you interpret it in that way.
It wouldn’t let me add the actual photo so I copied the link.
